Stones River Hardwoods began in Jan. 2009 when two professional furniture makers, Alf Sharp and Alan Daigre, had the opportunity to purchase an extraordinary inventory of well air-dried southern Appalachian hardwoods. Most serious woodworkers agree that well air-dried lumber is superior to kiln-dried in both color and workability.
The seller had been sawing and collecting lumber, most of it from veneer quality logs, for over 40 years.
The most recent addition to the collection is 15 years old. All together there is over 100,000 board feet including:
- maple (including tiger)
- eastern red cedar
At least 30% of the inventory consists of very wide, clear boards, and 12/4 and 16/4 thicknesses. There is a high percentage of figured wood in each of the species as well.
We are happy to be able to offer this treasure trove to the discriminating woodworker.
Our prices are reasonable, there is no minimum purchase, and quantity discounts are available. Shipping is available throughout the contiguous United States, at the buyer’s cost.
